In a pivotal move towards addressing one of Africa’s most critical health challenges, the African Union, in partnership with ASLM and with support from UK Aid through the Fleming Fund, has officially unveiled the African Union Antimicrobial Resistance Landmark Report.

This highly anticipated report provides a comprehensive analysis of the AMR crisis across Africa and outlines actionable recommendations to guide future interventions and policies. The launch event, held at the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia this week, brought together public health officials, policymakers, researchers, and international partners. The report emphasizes several key findings, including the widespread misuse of antibiotics, a lack of robust surveillance systems, and limited access to quality medicines.
